I think we all need to take a long, deep breath—just because Céline Dion is in Paris doesn’t mean she’ll be performing at the Paris Olympics. I’m sorry, but if there’s one thing I learned from TikTok, it’s that rich people do a little thing called Euro summer. With that said, one can hope (and I sure am), but instead of obsessing over the rumor her appearance sparked, I’m focusing on her actual appearance, which might have been the coolest take on menswear I’ve seen all year.
When the singer was spotted outside of the Royal Monceau Hotel, she was wearing an undeniably chic look. Dion layered a sleek black suit jacket over a crisp, slightly oversized white button-down with a popped collar, giving the sophisticated pieces a more relaxed feel. And while the top half of her look convinced me to raid my boyfriend’s wardrobe, it was the bottom half I see myself wearing all fall.
Dion wore a pair of ridiculously wide-leg black pants with matching lug sole loafers; it was a combination that felt effortlessly cool and very wearable.

Wide-leg trousers and jeans have been cool girl’s ‘It’ style this decade, and Dion’s look is proof that the oversized silhouette isn’t going anywhere in 2024. Her palazzo pants featured a super spacious leg that hit just below her ankle. With a leg that wide, you need the length to be perfect, and these were just that; they weren’t too cropped but they effortlessly showcased her shoes (and as the world now knows, Dion is a shoe girl). Plus—and I’m speaking from experience—this style is incredibly flattering and comfortable; these trousers cinch the waist before expanding into that wide leg, creating shape with no effort. And while Dion opted to lean into the oversized look, you can pair these with a fitted top for a little more balance.
This type of pant looks great with just about every shoe you pair it with, from sneakers to pumps, but her loafers added to its cool-but-polished vibe. The shiny black style featured a small lug sole which added just enough edge to the otherwise posh shoes—they were doing for the bottom of her outfit what that popped collar was doing for the top.
Wide-leg pants and loafers are cut from the same cloth; both elevate an outfit while still offering all-day comfort. Shop more trousers and loafers inspired by Dion’s modern take on menswear, below.
