Kim Kardashian has expressed her admiration for incarcerated firefighters risking their lives amid Southern California’s devastating wildfires. These catastrophic fires, including the Palisades and Eaton blazes, have destroyed over 22,000 acres and claimed 16 lives.
In an emotional Instagram post, Kardashian acknowledged their dedication. She wrote about their grueling 24-hour shifts and how they receive minimal compensation for their bravery.
“They are paid almost nothing, risking their lives to protect our communities. They are heroes,” she said.
Calls for fair pay for incarcerated firefighters
Kardashian called out California’s outdated pay policies for incarcerated firefighters. Since 1984, these individuals have earned only $1 per hour. Recent efforts to increase their wages to $5 per hour were rejected.
