On her daytime talk show, the original American Idol takes on covers of songs from every genre imaginable and makes them her own, oftentimes bringing the original artist to tears or making them swear to never sing their own song again. Fans have been begging Kelly to release the covers, but, until now, they’ve only been available to watch on The Kelly Clarkson Show and her YouTube channel. (She released an album of Kellyoke covers in 2022, but it only has 6 tracks.)
Now, fans with SiriusXM subscriptions will have the songs available to listen to on Kelly’s channel (channel 12 on SiriusXM). Kelly shared the news with her fans on Instagram. She said, “I’m very excited to share the Kellyokes. It’s the one thing I get asked the most…Kelly Clarkson Connection was the perfect place to have this. I mean it’s my station, so why wouldn’t we put them out here so my fans can listen to them? People have been asking me nonstop. We’re starting with several to start with but we’re going to start seeping them in here and there. This will be the place you can hear the Kellyokes mixed and mastered for this station specifically.”
It’s safe to say the reaction was mixed. Some fans were thrilled by the news, but others, especially those outside the U.S., were less than enthusiastic. They left comments like:
- “What about a uk version? That link doesn’t work here”
- “Kelly your real fans don’t want this, it’s on YouTube.”
- “No, I want them out on vinyl 😂”
- “Can you put them on Spotify for non american fans?”
- “OMG THIS IS INCREDIBLE! 💓”
- “This alone is a reason to subscribe to Sirius. Her covers are amazing. Agree with other comments, release them everywhere! They deserve to be heard again and again.”
