Acne is frequently classified by grade, with grade I indicating moderate, non-inflamed forms of acne such as blackheads and whiteheads. From here, we go on to grade II acne, which is characterized by a high number of blackheads and whiteheads, as well as mildly inflammatory papules or pustules.
A papule is a minor lesion or breach in the skin that appears as a bump that rises above the skinโs surface and is typically less than 5 mm in diameter. A pustule is similar to a papule, except it contains pus and is made up of dead skin cells, white blood cells, and germs.
