A thoughtful First Lady “Time for prayer”: Melania Trump offers comfort after camp mystic tragedy

Melania Trump Offers Comfort After Texas Flood Tragedy

As Texas reels from catastrophic flooding that claimed dozens of lives, First Lady Melania Trump offered a heartfelt message of empathy and strength to grieving families.

Posting on X Saturday morning, Melania addressed the devastating loss of 27 lives—many of them children—after flash floods tore through areas like Kerr County and destroyed Camp Mystic.

“During this trying time, my thoughts and prayers are with the parents in Texas,” she wrote. “I’m praying for you and keeping you in my prayers for fortitude, consolation, and strength.”

Her message resonated as more than 20 children remain missing. Families across the nation are mourning and waiting anxiously for news.

Among the confirmed victims is 9-year-old Janie Hunt. Another camper, 13-year-old Elinor Lester, survived and shared harrowing scenes of chaos—children airlifted by helicopter, clinging to ropes across collapsed bridges, and cabins swept away.

“The camp was totally demolished,” Elinor said.

The Guadalupe River rose nearly 30 feet in under two hours, overwhelming flood gauges and catching even seasoned meteorologists off guard.

President Donald Trump called the disaster “shocking,” promising full federal support. “Youth have lost their lives. Texas will be taken care of. Anything they need,” he said. Rescue teams remain active, with 400 responders, helicopters, and drones searching for survivors.

Melania’s quiet message of unity offered a moment of comfort in a week filled with heartbreak—a reminder that the country grieves together and stands with those facing unimaginable loss.
